Tipping is generally a way of life in Egypt and to a certain degree, expected. As a group you may want to tip more, less or not at all, depending on your experience.
The tips are paid for all services providers and not only for guide and drivers it is paid to (Cruise / Hotel staff, porters in airports, escorts, drivers, guides and small tips in temples and local places) so, we recommend that all tips to be collected by your group leader or by our tour escort and to be distributed by him to all services providers.

Australian, Canadian, American nationalities travelling to Egypt do not require a visa prior to travelling; they shall receive it upon arrival.
For travel to Egypt all passports must have a validity of at least 6 months from the date of return to their place of origin.
It is recommended that a copy of each individual’s passport details page is taken on tour as a record for each person travelling should any incident occur – such as stolen/lost passport or ticket or for individual further identification purposes.

Most travels will be conducted via a bus (with air-conditioning). Please note that coaches have limited space for luggage, therefore we recommend only taking 1 piece of hand-held luggage per person.
All foreign coach companies used for transfers and excursions must conform to all local, national and international standards, with the minimum requirement that they hold an Operator’s Licence, Fleet insurance and Public Liability and therefore may not have seatbelts fitted.
We would strongly advise you of the need to observe the loading and unloading of suitcases from the coach and safe transportation of each case into the hotel on arrival and departure.
As an additional experience, we will provide a horse and carriage ride during the trip between Aswan -> Luxor.
Aswan -> Luxor will be conducted via A Nile cruise ship (5-stars).
Arabic is the local language. Limited English is generally understood and spoken as well. Your tour guides and trip adviser speak fluent English and Arabic.
The Egyptian pound is the currency of Egypt. As of today (13/2/23) , the exchange rate is 1 USD = 30.20 LE*

The voltage used is 220 volts. *Note: The U.S. uses 120 volts and you can purchase a converter and transformer at most hardware stores for your 120V appliances. Make sure it has the 2 round pins. (Universal Grounded Adapter to US Plug).
Stick to the Egyptian bazaars offering colourful wears and great bargains and be prepared to bargain. You may wish to avoid the street vendors, some of whom can be very persistent. Egyptian tour guides do take visitors into pre-approved shops during the itinerary. Even shop owners at the most respectable stores tend to be assertive. Again, should you be made to feel at all uncomfortable, do report the incident to your tour manager.
No vaccinations are necessary when arriving in Egypt from the U.S.A or Australia, however, be sure to consult with your health care providers before traveling.
*To prevent “Montezuma’s Revenge,” avoid the tap water, including raw fruits and vegetables washed in tap water. Your stomach may still become upset due to the change in diet. Bring anti-diarrhea medicine just in case.
Islam is the dominant influence, and many traditional customs and beliefs are tied up with that religion. Egypt locals are generally courteous and hospitable and expect similar respect from visitors. Handshaking will suffice as a greeting. As Egypt is a Muslim country, clothes should be conservative and women should not wear revealing clothing, particularly when in religious buildings and in towns (although the Western style of dress is accepted in modern nightclubs, restaurants, hotels and bars in Cairo, Alexandria and other tourist destinations). Official or social functions and smart restaurants usually require more formal wear. Smoking is very common but not in closed places. PDA is not encouraged, unless there is a proof of marriage.
Until now, (13/2/23) there is no Departure tax levied in Egypt.
We strongly recommend that you consider these 3 types of insurance plans: trip cancellation insurance, travel health insurance, and medical evacuation insurance. These will cover different situations and may give you financial peace of mind, as well as allowing for safe and healthy travel. Keep all boarding passes, ticket copies and receipts for expenses paid during your trip if it later becomes necessary to file a claim.
Please contact your medical provider, airline or travel agent to obtain a policy for this trip. This is important
Important: It is highly recommended you have your medical insurance policy provider contact information with you, before leaving for Egypt.
Praise for Heidi
